December .:. Pyjamas // Closet Core Patterns – Carolyn PJs
Welcome to the last theme of Sew Your Wardrobe Basics. In December the theme was pyjamas/pajamas/PJs (depending on what you prefer). This will be the last post about Sew Your Wardrobe Basics, after two years I’m craving something new. But for today you are invited to share your basic make from December in the link tool above. It can be any basic piece and not just PJs. I’m looking forward to your contribution.
About my PJs:
fabric: 100% viscose/rayon (bought a million years ago at Stoff&Stil)
sewing pattern: Carolyn pajamas by Closet Core Patterns
size: I chose the skirt pattern after the measurements on the website, there you can check the finished garment measurements and these are very accurate. The pattern comes in two size ranges size 0-20 with a B-cup and sizes 14-32 with a D-cup. Because of my bust I chose the plus size range and am very happy with it.
fit: The PJs are loose fitted.
alterations: After I checked the notches and the bust dart I decided to make no alterations… (very brave of me) and the fit is nice. Since this is a very wearable musslin I skiped the piping and the bust pocket to see how the PJs fit. Next time I’d make a narrow shoulder adjustment… and I’m thinking about going one size down. The trousers are very generous and loose around my thighs.
recommendation: I totally recommend this pattern. I’m pleasently surprised! Closet Core did a pattern makeover one or two month ago and I think they did a great job. I can’t compare the new pattern with the old, because I haven’t made the old Caroline PJs, but I love the different bust sizes and that they expanded their size range up to a 32. Great job Closet Core!
I have a silk fabric that would be perfect for this pattern, but I wanted to make a test version first before I cut into my precious silk. And for summer I’m thinking about a short version.
For this year I say goodbye to you and hope to see you again next week, when I’ll be back with another handmade outfit.
I wish you and your loved ones all the best for the new years!
