Sew Your Wardrobe Basics

August theme .:. Silk // Sew Your Wardrobe Basics

EN Hello August! This month it’s about a really exciting material for Sew Your Wardrobe Basics: silk. One of my goals this year is to sew more silk garments and since I have a few beautiful silk fabrics in my stash, I thought August would be perfect to sew them up. Personally I prefer more matt silk fabrics such as crêpe de Chine or coarse silk and my favourite garments made of silk are shirts. So of couse I’m planning to make a silk shirt! Pattern wise I’m thinking about using the Liesl + Co. classic shirt pattern or the VikiSews Jenna.

What do you think about sewing silk? Did you try it? If you haven’t tried silk before, I highly recommend crêpe de Chine, because it’s not as slippery as shiny silk fabrics. But of course you can also sew another basic piece for your wardrobe. We will meet at August 31st to share the basics we made during August. You can find the July link up here.
Have a great start to your week.
