inspiration Sew Your Wardrobe Basics

Sew Your Wardrobe Basics .:. Sewing Challenge 2020

12 month .:. 12 basics for your wardobe – This is my sewing challenge for 2020. Every month I publish a theme or a piece of clothing I want and need in my wardobe… and you can join in!

What’s the idea behind this challenge?
This year I made some classic and timeless pieces of clothing during my DIY capsule collection and now I want more. It’s great to have a colourful wardrobe and I love prints, but the handmade clothes I wore the most were my timeless classics. With these you can always team all your colourful and printed pieces in your wardrobe.

Why such a sewing challenge?
I know there are so many sewing challenges out there, but this is the one I want to challenge myself. I don’t have a lot of time to sew and when I sew, I want to make the most out of it. It’s great to sew loud and colourful garments, but the ones I wear the most in my job and in my free times are the basics. They are the foundation of my wardrobe! So after this years experiences I want to focus more on these wardrobe basics in 2020. And maybe this is what you want, too?

For whom is this sewing challenge?
The challenge is open to everybody. Maybe you need some inspiration? You lost your sewing mojo (sewing motivation)? You see, just like me, a lack of basics in your wardrobe? Your sewing time is limited and you want to stick to a plan (it’s so easy to get distracted by al these beautiful new patterns and clothes people post on Instagram, Pinterest etc.). Some basics will be quick makes, some will be a bit more challenging… every month will be different. I hope to inspire you!

How does the challenge work?
I’ll announce a theme every 1st of the month and if you like the theme and you want such a basic in your wardrobe, you can join me. At the 29th of each month I’ll open a link party (you leave a link to your blogpost or the link to an Instagram picture). Everyone can see your make and can visit your Blog or Instagram and connect with you. You can join me every month or just one or two next year. Just as you like it.

Are there requirements?
Well, I won’t post sponsored content at all. I have and will always post patterns and clothes I paid for myself and which I have tried or want to make. This is the only requirement I ask for: no sponsored content. You can post one blogpost / Instagram picture of a make or you can post more (in case you sewed more then one basic in the particular month).

I’d be pleased, if you join me in 2020 for #SewYourWardrobeBasics. I know sewing basics can be boring at times, but with this challenge we can make it more fun.
Since we are visiting friends over New Year’s Eve, I’ll post the theme for January on Sunday the 29th of December. I hope to see you here again on Sunday.
